Role Overview
As a Project Manager for Integrated Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Projects, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of large-scale renewable energy investments — from early-stage development and permitting to construction, commissioning, and operational handover. This role requires excellent technical knowledge combined with strong commercial aptitude, ensuring both technical performance and financial viability of projects. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage external stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of complex integrated PV + BESS projects exceeding €50 million, ensuring compliance with time, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, and supervise integrated PV + BESS projects across all stages: development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage the full development process, including ATRs, grid connection contracts, permitting, and EPC contracting.
- Provide technical due diligence (DD) support and represent the company before investors, lenders, and consultants.
- Ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives, integrating cost optimization, performance targets, and ROI metrics.
- Oversee technical interfaces between PV and BESS systems to guarantee interoperability and efficiency.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders (design teams, EPCs, equipment suppliers, and authorities).
- Conduct regular site visits and commissioning oversight to ensure design, safety, and performance compliance.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with HSE and quality standards.
- Prepare progress reports and executive summaries for senior management and investment committees.
Requirements
- University degree in Engineering, Economic Engineering, or Engineering & Management.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in renewable energy project management, with direct involvement in large-scale PV and/or BESS developments.
- Proven track record in projects exceeding €50 million, from concept to commissioning.
- Excellent technical knowledge combined with strong commercial and financial understanding.
- Experience with ATR and grid connection processes, EPC contract negotiation, and technical due diligence.
- Ability to interface effectively with technical consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
- Exceptional leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of MS Project or Primavera is a plus.
- Fluent in English; Romanian proficiency required.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
